The sample workspace will read the Spaces,Storeys and Georeferencing from an IFC building model. The 3D Spaces are merged with the Storeys and Georeferencing (if it exists) to create jelly cubes in a Google Earth KML file, classified by both usage and storey. The workspace also creates a screen overlay legend of the uses and colors.
If no georeferencing feature is present, the workspace allows the user to add an override origin lat/long/elevation location. If neither georeferencing nor user override is available, the workspace will terminate with an error, since all KML data must be georeferenced.
Sample Output:
Although this workspace uses 3D IFC Spaces,it can easily be adapted to create 3D extrusions from 2D floor plans instead.
The workspace can be downloaded from the link above. The source data used is an IFC model of the Riverside Building in Washington,DC that is publicly available fromNemetschek Vectorworks. The LOD 100 model is displayed, but the LOD 200 and LOD 300 models will work as well.
While the IFC file does not contain georeferencing information,a KML file of the building is also available and was used to determine the IFC model origin location for the workspace user override.
