Note: When downsizing a large instance,a warning will indicate that it may take several hours while a backup is made.

Note: Expanding the primary disk and resizing the instance are different. For technical reasons, the primary disk size can only be expanded. The data on the primary disk is persistent,so whenever the disk gets bigger,we cannot go back and make the disk smaller. This is different for the temporary disk size, which we will cover next .
4) Expand temporary disk
You also have the option to resize your instance's temporary disk. You can do this by selecting the instance, clicking the Action button, and choosing Resize Temp Disk.
Resize Temp Disk option on the Action menu
From here you can move the slider to expand or decrease the size of the disk.
Resize Temporary Disk dialog
It is possible to decrease or increase the size of the temporary disk,as the temporary disk is purged every time the instance is paused. The data on this disk is not persistent. If you need to increase the speed of your instance temporarily, you should increase the size of your temporary disk,as it is not possible to reduce the size of the primary disk after increasing it.
