The attached workspace is an example of setting MicroStation text styles in an ESRI Shape to MicroStation DGN V8 translation.
The source SHAPE datasets contain
This is the source data displayed with Data Inspector:
During translation, some of the street segments are labelled with street name labels. The text style of each street name label depends on the street use type. Also, parks are labelled with park name labels which are placed at park polygon center points.
The attached writingStyledTexts_14430.fmw workspace was created using FME 2014 SP4 (build 14430).Every item below represents a task and corresponds with a bookmark in the workspace.
Street segments are written into the destination DGN with no styling. They are part of the base map. This task is not related to text styling.
In the source dataset, there are too many street segments to label them all.To avoid multiple overlapping labels for the same street and labels with wrong rotation:
For line features, labels can be created using a Labeller transformer, which will replace lines with texts.Text size has to be set in the Labeller, but other text style attributes (font, text style name, color, etc.) are set with igds_ format attributes added using an AttributeCreator transformer.
Park polygons are styled with a DGNStyler transformer before being output into the destination DGN.They are part of the base map as well. This task is not related to text styling.
One of the options for labelling an area feature is to place the label at the area center point. At this step
For park polygons, labels are created by replacing polygon center points with texts using a LabelPointReplacer transformer.Text size is again set in the LabelPointReplacer and other text style attributes (font, text style name, color, etc.) with igds_ format attributes added using the AttributeCreator.
To find out igds_textstyle_id and/or igds_font values:
It is recommended to do this using the seed-file rather than another file,as when a text style or a font is added to the seed-file it gets ‘introduced' to the seed-file (gets igds_textstyle_id or igds_font value assigned from FME user point of view).
