When I use the Oracle Spatial or non-Spatial writers to create new tables in an Oracle database I have to ensure I make my attribute names all upper case otherwise FME writes these attributes as is.My DBA wants the columns names to be all upper case. How can I ensure FME always creates the tables with uppercase attributes names?
Attribute names on Oracle writer feature types will be forced to upper case and to not include characters that require quoting within Oracle by default. There is a parameter available when adding Oracle writers to a workspace called "Upper Case Column Names" which can be unchecked to allow mixed case column names. For more information please see the documentation onOracle Writer Parameters.
To change the default behavior of FME to always force uppercase attributes when writing to an Oracle database you must edit two metafiles in FME.This will have to be done with every new installation of FME as well. There is an Enhancement Request to make this option available in the FME Workbench GUI.
There are 2 files you need to edit in the FME Installation folder.
Search these files for "ATTRIBUTE_CASE".The word ANY should appear afterwards...i.e."ATTRIBUTE_CASE ANY"
Replace the word "ANY" and with "UPPER_FIRST_ALPHA".
This will affect all new workspaces generated with FME going forward.
Existing ones will not be affected by this.To change in an existing workspace, use the BulkAttributeRenamer:
