Has anyone experienced this before?Regards

Unlike most GIS systems,AutoCAD's text size parameter is the distance from the baseline to the capital height, and does not include the descender portion of the character (ie.the tail of y).The MapTextLabeller seems to be taking this into account when spacing the text from the line,by offsetting the text a little more when characters with descenders are present in the string.
I haven't used this before, but you might try to create the labels in capital case and replace the text afterwards in the original casing.
Hope this will help you.
