I have the same problem in 2017.1 with FeatureWriter and Excel file.

Version: 2017.1.0.0 (20170731 - Build 17539 - WIN64)

Is there a workaround in 2017.1?

In Build 17176 there are all Feature Types visible in the navigator.But the Feature Types have the same name: @Value(fme_feature_type).If I run the Workbench, I get the error:

Cannot have multiple factories with the same name.Multiple factories were assigned the name '_Value_m_esri_name__GEODATABASE_FILE_3_DirCreator'

It's not possible to rename the definition of the output?
