Viewing Data with a Background Map

You can enable a background map to open when you view data. This allows you to overlay your own data and view it relative to a specific location.

When the background map feature is enabled, both the dataset you open and the background map dataset appear together in theViewwindow and theDisplay Control.

Only features of the dataset you open can be selected for viewing in theFeature Informationwindow orTable View. You cannot zoom in or otherwise change the view of the background map: the focus is always on your own data.

Note:Background map data is reprojected to one of the coordinate systems referenced by the dataset(s) that comprise your view. If you want to reference the coordinate system of the background map when viewing coordinates in the Status Bar, use the drop-down list to select it. How to Enable a Background Map

From the menu bar, clickTools>FME Options. 这将打开FME选项窗口。

Background Format

Option Description
None

This option disables the background map. You can use this option to toggle the background map on and off.

Esri ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Map Service

Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog.

If you already have an account, enter the account credentials. If you do not have an account, follow the link in the dialog for a free trial of ArcGIS Online.

Constraints: Click browse to open a list of available maps (you can filter the list to narrow the choices). Select a map and click OK to accept the selection. The selection displays in the Map List field.

Microsoft Bing Maps
  1. Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog.
  2. Host: To access maps from the standard Bing Maps server, do not change the value of this field. Alternatively, specify a custom Bing Maps host URL.
  3. Key: Enter the Bing Maps Key for your Bing Maps Account.
  4. Map List: Click browse to open a list of available maps from your account. Select a map and click OK.
  5. Language: Select a language in which to display the map, where supported.
  6. Click OK to close the dialog and accept the selections.

MapBox Web Map Tile Service
  1. Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog.

  2. Enter the MapBox API Access Token for your account. If you do not have an account, follow the link in the dialog to open one.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To see a list of MapBox's public basemaps, click the browse button beside the Map List field. The resulting list of maps all start with 'mapbox'.

    • In the Map List field, enter the MapBox Map ID of a public or private map. Map IDs are of the form '[account].[handle]', and can be found in the MapBox web interface for your account.

  4. 单击“确定”关闭对话框并接受选择。

MapQuest Web Map Tile Service
  1. Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog.
  2. Enter the MapQuest API Key for your account. If you do not have an account, follow the link in the dialog to open one.
  3. Select one of the MapQuest base maps from the Map List field.
  4. 单击“确定”关闭对话框并接受选择。
Nokia Here Map Service
  1. Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog.
  2. 输入您的Nokia HERE帐户的应用程序ID和应用程序代码。
  3. Map List: Select a map from your account.
  4. Label Language: Select a language in which to display map labels, where supported.
  5. Click OK to close the dialog and accept the selections.

Stamen Maps

Click the Parameters button to open the connection dialog, and browse to the map you want to load.

Click OK to accept the choice and close the window.

Note that you do not need an account to access Stamen maps.
WMS (Web Map Service)

单击“参数”按钮。在“参数”对话框中，指定要访问的地图服务器的URL。

Specify Constraints, Map Options, Schema Attributes, and Search Envelope parameters as desired.

For more information on these parameters, click Help in the parameter dialog.

Other FME Formats

Select a format and dataset to be used as the background map.

(Optional) Coord. System: Specify an alternate coordinate system to project the background map.

To initiate the background map view, clickApplyto save the selection, orOKto save the selection and close the FME Options dialog.
